Display Tips is independent software created and operated by Rand Richter. It gives direct tips a place in your live video.

Viewers already use Venmo, Cash App and PayPal to support creators. Display Tips connects supported incoming payment receipts in Gmail to a private browser overlay, so that support can appear on screen while you stream.

What Display Tips does

After you connect a Gmail inbox and choose which payment services to listen for, Display Tips recognizes supported incoming receipts and displays an alert. You add your private overlay URL to OBS Studio or another streaming app with a browser or web source.

A full alert can condense into a compact tip that remains visible when the relevant appearance setting is enabled. You can preview themes and use a test tip before going live. See the setup guides for the actual workflow.

Your payments stay with you

Viewers pay your payment account directly. Display Tips does not process or hold their money and takes no percentage of tips. Your payment provider’s fees may apply, along with the Display Tips subscription. Review current pricing and trial terms.

You do not need Twitch Affiliate or YouTube Partner status to use the overlay. It appears in the video your streaming app sends to the destination you choose.

A separate choice to connect Gmail

Account sign-in and Gmail access are separate. Connecting an inbox uses Google’s broad, read-only Gmail permission. Display Tips checks message details to find payment receipts and fetches full email content for the services you enable. It cannot send, delete or change email.

The privacy policy explains data handling, retention and deletion. Your private overlay link allows its holder to view alerts, so keep it out of public posts and screenshots.

Timing and real-world limits

Alerts depend on supported payment emails reaching Gmail and being processed. Provider email delivery and network conditions can cause delays or missing alerts. A test tip checks the display path, not payment-email recognition. Your payment account remains the transaction record.
